re: Lenovo 3000 K100 Desktop

I picked up the Lenovo 3000 K100 desktop for the $800/AR price today--for my girlfriend, but I am having a hard time determining if it is a good value. Has anyone that has priced out desktops lately--have an opinion?

I could use some of the parts in her old system if i bought an ASrock quad-vista, etc, but I was feeling lazy...I am just trying to determine if I am paying too much for a complete system. Dell .com has some systems, but no inspirons to compare and get a good price breakdown--i did find an Optiplex 755 mini-tower that comes pretty close, coming it at $1061.

I bought the exact same desktop from Office depot.

So far it has checked out to be a great deal.
Except for its graphic card, which is no big deal as u can upgrade to nVidia 8600 GT for $99.
If u r trying to play games, the integrated Intel graphic card doesn't serve justice to that need.
Plus, I don't think it is an Intel GMA X3100 because on intels website, those only come on the GM965, GL960 chipsets. We have the G33 chipsets, which supports Intel GMA 3100. anyway....

I tried building a desktop of the same specs on dell.com and the price tag was around $2000 with minor upgrades of sound and video.

I already added another 1gb so my total ram is 4gb and its awesome.
Plus i like this Power dial thing.

Right now i am deciding what to do about my Vista situation. I don't like Vista so much, so I think i am going to partition my hard drive and dual boot XP.

For final thoughts, I think u should keep it because even if u build ur own desktop it will cost around the same price give or take a $100. At least with this u r getting this nice case. lol.
