Re-installing XP on a dual boot system

Hi all,

I know when you re-install WinXP it overwrites the MBR, thus making it so Grub will not load and just boots straight to XP. My question is, how do you prevent this from happening? Or, how do you get grub back up and running? Can you use a boot disk into linux and just re-run Grub and it will restore the OS selection screen on boot, or is it more complicated than that?

TIA.

ok now...I don't have a floppy drive (laptop) what should I use for a boot cd? Could I use knoppix and run Grub for SUSE still?

Knoppix should work. I bet SUSE has a rescue CD as well. Just make sure you run the grub from your SUSE system, not from whatever you booted with.
