re-installing windows2k

is it possible to do a clean install over the existing windows2k directory, and save the application installation settings? since i dont feel like re-installing the programs...

my registry in win2k is messed up, (code 19) i can't get my cdrw and dvd drives to work.
and win2k cant restore the registry, so i can only do a clean install.
would replacing the new Document/Settings folder with the old one do it? is it possible at all?
