I am putting a new MB in my fathers system tonight. It's been awhile. But I remember a parameter that can be used to reinstall windows and force it to delete the hardware entries in the registry and force it to refind the hardware over again. The reason I need to do this is because he is changing out MB's and going with a new chipset. I usually run into trouble with this.

If I recall the command was something like setup.exe /p :e

I hope this jogs some memories.

Any ideas?

HELP!!!!

Some people have reported success with first deleting Enum key in registry, which removes old hardware settings. Another way might be to first remove all hardware in Device Manager, and letting it reinstall in the new machine.
