Hello,

I am trying to re-format a boddy's HP machine. To me these are throw away computers (I built my own, but I'm stumped here).

He does not have the recovery disk and I deleted the partitions and re-formatted it with WinXP bootup disk. It loads the files and when it trys to reboot after loading setup files, I get a black screen and it just sits there with a flashing cursor. I cannot even get WinXP on it.

Any suggestions????

So what you're saying is, after you boot from the WinXP CD and format the hard drive, and setup copies the necessary files, then reboots so you can get into the GUI portion of the installation, that's where the computer hangs?

Yes, but I have resolved it now. I used the Hard drive disk tools from Western Digital and wrote zeros to drive....It works fine now!!!!
