Re-coning a subwoofer?

Slight mishap between my paintball gun barrel and my subwoofer. The cone has a crack from the middle, all the way out to the rubber. How much does it cost to re-cone a sub, and how would I go about getting it done?

I once saw somebody use a FedEx envelope (Tyvek, not hard to get) and super glue. Not sure that it was the cone itself.

buy a kit online. for 12" i think a kit costs about $20. It isn't that hard to do you just need to be coordinated.

Your kit needs to match the sub, as the cone affects the sound greatly. Call up pioneer's speaker division and ask for a recone pricing on that model.

My guess is that you'll probably spend more (time and supplies) re-coning the sub vs. buying a new Pioneer sub and in the end it still might not sound as good as it did before the mis-hap. How much was the sub to start?

Edit: A new Pioneer TS-W305C runs $59.99 - Sound Domain - Pioneer Sub :)

Mine was a 304C, which they don't make anymore.

Either way, this sucks. I guess I will call them and ask how much a recone kit will cost.

Problem is that I am thinking about selling this system to my friend, but he would probably pay more once I fix it than he would now, so I won' t lose that much on the deal.

Do you have any specs on the driver? If you can find one that closely matches you could likely just replace the entire thing (motor/cone/basket/etc.) and call it good.
