Hello there. This is probably a silly question, but I have a Toshiba A215-s4757 that has bluetooth software in it, but im not quite sure what that means.

Does this mean it will broadcast a bluetooth signal to any bluetooth enabled receiver device, or do i need one of those USB flash drive antenna deals?

I bought a pair of Motorola HT820 headphones, and when I try to run the bluetooth software it keeps asking me to plug in the device, and no matter what I do button pushing buttons/connection-wise I can not proceed from here. This is why im thinking I need one of those USB deals.

Thanks

if it has the software it should have it built in, but to make sure it will have a some sort of button thing by where the power/charging lights are (top of keyboard usually) that has a Bluetooth symbol on it. When it's lit blue it's enabled. As far as paring your headset with your PC, you'll have to set the lappy's bluetooth in discovery mode. Not sure which BT stack Toshiba uses, but I'd check for a BT Icon in your tray, it not there in your control panel.

it's possible it's not enabled, and even if it is you'll have to set it for discovery mode before you pair, just like you have to on all BT devices. Pairing mode is key, without turning it on devices will never communicate for the first time. After you've done this it's pretty easy. All you need to know on your lappy side once you get them to see one another is the passkey, Moto devices it's usually 4 or 5 0's.

I am not sure if there's a universal way to configure BT in XP or Vista, if anyone out there knows I'd love to have more information. I've worked on 3 PC's that has BT and the process was different for each depending on the stack they used.

2nd thing, if you think the lappy's BT is functioning and is searching for devices, put your headset into discovery mode. It would be the same process the first time you synced it with your phone. Once they're both in search mode they will communicate. But speaking from experience, I can tell you that Microsoft hasn't made the process very flawless, at least not in XP (hopefully Vista is better) the first few devices I tried to pair with my PC was a frustrating experience to say the least :)

good luck man you'll figure it out.
