there was an article on hardwarecentral a few couple of weeks ago about these new line of low-voltage laptop cpus. just wondering if anybody has heard anything more? i have high hopes for the xp-m line, but its currently only available in fujitsu laptops... wonder if it will catch on. any thoughts?

seems everyone is giving in to Centrino marketing...

plus with intel being the whore they are, they support (monetarily, sexually, etc.. hehe) manufacturers who will utilize Centrino platform solutions in their systems...

Hopefully AMD will either have some good marketing strategies, or provide an all-in-one solution like Centrino which can be competitive.

Basically, Intel's Bananas Banias whatever the hell, with its whole shorter-pipeline/higher efficiency architecture, is more similar to AMD's structural designs which gives it a performance edge at lower clock speeds against Intel.

So now I imagine that messes up the PR system if you are comparing laptops to laptops, Banias to XP-M.

not much of an answer, but just a few of my thoughts.

When my English teacher said she wanted to get Intel's 'new mobile chip' i wanted to go off on her...

im sorry, im an AMD Fanboy.

i've read that over like 5 times and i still dont know if you mean xp-m or banias has the edge.... too much studying is making me a dull boy. or... i think you have a mucked up pronoun reference... "it"

Hah, ok i have repaired my grammar in the above quote. ^^^^^^

Basically, Banias performs against a desktop Intel like AMDs perform against desktop Intels.

If XP-m is nothing but a low-voltage Athlon (im not sure if it is or not), then the performance margin will probably be smaller.
