RDRAM vs. DDRAM

Hey guys,

I just need to know the diff between the two types.....I know all the new MBs have DDRAM over SDRAM or both, but what exaclty is Rambus?....need help...and if there is a difference.....what is Rambus used in?.....

rambus is commonly called "RDRAM" It was used for all of the first pentium 4 platforms and is even faster than ddr.

Why would you give him an old link from May? The technology has changed so much since then, including mainly the chipset they used for the ddr. The old one they used kt266 had a big problem with ram, but the new kt266a from via blows the rdram out of the water. Rdram has a higher theoretical throughput, but not actual faster or better performance.
Otherwise the P4 platform wouldn't always get the crap beat out of it when compared to the new Athlon XP procs.

Despite there being newer faster chipsets available that perform better than the ones in the article, it still answers his questions about the memory types and what RDRAM is used with. Also, the article's recommendations are still sound and applicable, excluding the performance crown being awarded to RDRAM 😉
