Actually, the ComponentsDirect RAM is alread on pricewatch

RDRAM 256MB 1066MHz RAMBUS 232 pin Memory Original SAMSUNG MD16R1628AFO-CM8
Peak bandwidth of 4.2GB/sec(Dual Channel), 256/288Mbit Micro-BGA RDRAM devices, SPD support. 2ND GEN RAMBUS 232 PIN
(Sorry, can't link to a pricewatch search, but just try "1066")

They list both:
MR16R1628AFO-CM
MD16R1628AF0-CM8

However, according to Samsung's site, these correspond to 40ns chips. The MR16R1628AF1-CN9 (MR18R1628AF1-CN9 for ECC) is the 32ns part.

thanx for the info.
good find

FWIW: componentsdirect CSR admitted to someone in hot deals that their "32ns PC1066" was "overclocked PC800" ......whatever that means. They obviously dont know which way is up over there.

C'mon ASUS release that damn P4T533 - i'm waiting for you.

Is the 232 pin RDRAM a new spec? Does it only work with the Asus board? Is it backwards compatible with the 184 pin variety?

yes its new - 32 bit not 16
you only need to put in 1 stick not 2
no crimms needed
different pinouts wont interchange

One wonders just how RAMBus is going to let themselves die...., I just cant see that group of corprate big heads going out like that. This new RDRam is looking mighty appealing now that it doesn?t have to be run in pairs.

looks like Corsair PC1066 also hit the shelves today.

and its -30 meaning the ram chips are actually PC1200 certified
(184 pin)
but at a first vendor "rape you" $210 price.

and since the Thoroughbred 2.0 GIG is due on the tenth (5 days) and overclocking articles shortly thereafter, if ASUS doesn't release that board soon, and if the TB overclocks to 2.6 on air, they've lost me as a potential customer.

ok thanks. I knew I heard somewhere. This should boost AMD into competition with the 2.4B maybe even challeneging the 2.53 in non SSE2 benchmarks.
