rdram 1066 question

Does this memory have to be upgraded in 2's? Such as 2 128 sticks and not just 1 256 stick I think I have read this somewhere. My other question on a Dell 8250 does it have 2 memory banks or 4? I couldn't find this info on Dells site, any help would be appreciated.

The RD RAM does not need to be installed in pairs, though that is best. You have to use a terminator module in the empty socket of the pair. Don't know how many sockets your system has, but usually 4.

I'm sorry but I just looked at the upgrading method for the 8250 and apparently you do have to upgrade its memory in pairs. There are 4 memory sockets. As shipped sockets 3 and 4 are filled with "continuity" modules (terminators in my lingo). Mixed speed modules will all operate at the lowest rated speed. This was fairly easy to find. When you get to the support page for your model, you just click on "Documentation" near the top of the left column.
