Not sure how new it really is, but one of my contacts is using RCS chat instead of SMS. Quick web search indicates it will be replacing SMS eventually.
One question I have:
My phone gets SMS and other texts without data being turned on, as long as I have a cell signal. I tried to send an RCS chat yesterday and it didn't seem to want to go until I turned Data on. Should that happen?
