Does anyone here own an RCA DLP TV? Some of the reviews I?ve read say that they have a better picture quality than a comparable Samsung. I really like the Samsung?s picture but the store didn?t have an RCA hooked up to compare it with.

Also does anyone know when the new model TV?s are due out?

I personally do not like the RCA's (Scenium or not) as much as the current Samsungs. Next gen (HLP series, and such) should be out after the summer.

how long after summer? also what makes them better than the current DLPs?

I ask cause we'll be moving into a new house at the end of Sept and are planning out a nice tv to buy once we move.

I've been eyeing the 65inch Samsung DLP.

A friend of mine has the Samsung DLP and he loves it. I might buy one in the Fall/Winter once the next line comes out...

Around August is the projected date, though pushed back dates are reasonably common.

I'm seriously considering a HLP5685W. I love the pedestal look. Here's a big picture:

Another one to consider is JVC's new D-ILA TV's. I have a D-ILA projector and it absolutely rocks (after owning roughly 10 LCD & DLP projectors). JVC HD61Z575 61 Inch TV will have a 3-panel 1280x720 D-ILA optical block.

WEGA's have their good points, but the contrast, black level, and shadow detail are all way worse than DLP based solutions. If you aren't affected by the rainbow effect, DLP is probably a better overall solution for visual quality.

Same here.

Better to ask in AVS Forum though.

If you are going DLP, you should wait until the fall when the new TI HD3 chips come out.

Old chip. LCOS, Liquid Crystal on Silicon. Same thing as the D-ILA I mentioned above. Hopefully, Intel will have the FAB's to be able to get good enough yields (and quality).
