RCA DCM235 Cable Modem Problem

i was redecorating a room in my apartment that houses my cable modem (rca dcm235 used along with a netgear mr814 router). disconnected the power and cable line.

afterwards, when i hooked everything back up, i was receiving only blinking green Power & PC Link lights. i tried power cycling (over a minute) and pressing the reset button on the rear of the unit to see if that would work. no go.

i thought it was just having trouble syching and left it on overnight to see if it would finally synch up. no-go again. now instead of the Power and PC-Link lights blicking green, now only the Power light blinks green.

on the power supply block, it says to only be used with dcm235 or dcm235r (or something like that) so i doubt it would be a power connector problem that i read about in other posts.

any suggestions as to what could be the cause of the problem? i have a tech coming out saturday but they said if it wasnt comcast equipment or wiring, id get charged $49.95 service fee.

i did notice that even though it has just the Power light blinking green, when i do a ipconfig /release /renew, im able to get a ip address. just no dhcp, dns, gateway info.

since i didnt have access to internet, i wasnt sure what the ip address to the diagnostic page is of the modem. now that i know it's 192.168.100.1 & /moreinfo.html, im going to check that out as soon as i get home. also gonna hook up a tv to the cable to see if i get a signal (i dont have cable tv, but now that i think of it, even with the filter, i can get some blurry cable channels which is a good way to see if it's the line itself)

when i was on the phone with tech support, he mentioned something about standby mode. he had me try pressing/holding the power button.. but nothing seemed to do the trick. appreciate any help. thanks!
