Yeah, but it's not usually a problem in normal situations. How long are you thinking?

lets say 100 feet
Hmm...that might be a problem. At that length you could start to see significant signal loss.

I'm looking online but can't find specific answer, i know a CAT 5 cable can go 100meters or 300 feet, i want to see if a website has the actually stats for both cables.

edit CAT 5 was just a example.

Actually, 100 feet might not be too bad. It sounds far, but if you're transmitting video signals then it would probably take longer than that to degrade the signal. Would need some concrete data though.

both can easily be run that distance, for the s-video I recomend getting a s-video to y/c adapters for both ends then runnning some good coax for the two signial lines. This is an example of the adapter you need.

I picked up a 50 ft s-video and 50 ft RCA cable from Impact Acoustices. It was their Velocity series with oxygen free copper. Very high quality and I can't see any difference between them and a 3 ft monster cable. I don't know about a 100 ft, but if the cables are high quality, I wouldn't think you would have any problems.

With 100', you'll definitely want to use RG6 or better for the composite (RCA) cable, and use S-video breakout, like Snuffaluffaguss suggested, with RG6 cabling or better for the long runs.
