RC5 under BeOS 5.0

For some reason Rc5 runs much slower under BeOS than under Win2000. Under the Be client and a Athlon 700 I get approx 2 Mkey's a sec, and under win2000 I get 2.38 Mkey's.

Is this just becauase the Be client sucks or Am I missing something else. Settings between the two clients seem similar. Anyone Know?

well the only applications that are runnin is one window of opera, the terminal which is running Rc5.

So I don't see what would be sucking up cycles.

I have a PIII that I run beos 5 and rc5 on. I get the same rate it win98, linux and be (essentially). It may be possible that the latest athlon core is not in the be client.

I don't know, I thought it decteded the same thing that the win client is. Oh well for the amount of time I actually spend in BeOS it really mattter I guess

I also run BeOS on occasion on my one machine with a Duron at 1Gig. The problem (I believe) is that the BeOS client is older and doesn't have the optimized code for the Athlon/Duron core. That's also why sciencewhiz doesn't see a difference... he's using a P3, not an Athlon or Duron.

That would explain it. Thansk Netopia.

Got another question, this time about w2k, If I lock my workstation does Rc5 still run in the background or??

If you start DNet as a program, it will stay open while you are logged in even if your workstation is locked. If you log out, the program will close.

If you run it as a service, it will run no matter whether you are logged in or not.
