RC5-TA exposure on Anandtech.com

Some of the ideas floating around about getting more folks to join RC5-TA are good. However, as mentioned in one thread by a DPC member, main page exposure would go along way towards recruitment. Also, I don't know when the last time any of you clicked on the RC5 link at the top of the main Anandtech page, but that information is in need of updating. Hell, it says we're in 4th place overall, even though the graphic at the bottom is current. There's also a section (4b) on the page that says the Dnet automatic password retrieval isn't working, and gives instructions on how to retrieve your password manually. Is this still current?

I think before we go forth on a recruiting crusade, we need to do a little house keeping here first. For starters, update the Anandtech RC5 page. I also suggest a redesign of that page to make it a little more inviting; not so wordy, and maybe a little less dry. (Oops! Did I just volunteer?)

There's been a lot of wrangling going on about how we should recruit for RC5-TA. It seems to me that it makes sense to improve upon what we already have, while pursuing the other ideas at the same time.

Any thoughts?

I really wanted to wait until TA.com was online so I could box Anand into making a big annocement, but, I guess the cat's out of the bag.😱

The idea that I suggested to him shouldn't interfere with the announcement of the team web site. If he runs with it, it should generate a lot of excitement, though.

In defense of VIRGE, he has done a great job with the FAQ and deserves due credit.
If the thrust is now GLITZ and ADVERTISEMENT, then his mission has changed.

Hmmmm....another request for the DC Page. The graphic on the main page includes SETI, but the page itself is only for RC5?!? Shouldn't we also be given some press there??? Just wondering in the fairness of things!

With all due respect JW, I started this thread with a focus on recruiting for RC5. Nowhere in the thread title is the word SETI. If the SETI team feels slighted, then you guys need to take that up with the powers that be, namely Anand. I certainly can not speak for anyone else, but my priority right now is RC5. Should SETI get equal billing? I don't see why not. But why are you asking Russ, a RC5er, to go to bat for SETI? I don't know how much pull Russ has with Anand, but I'm sure there's a SETI team member with equal seniority and influence.

 
Feisters, calm down. The only real reason that SETI isn't up is becasue they don't have a real webpage. Once the TA.com goes up, we'll have a DC page made, then SETI will get a mostly equal stake.🙂
 
Ok, ok. Chill pill swallowed. But to me, it came across as whining. Here we are, bustin' our butts for RC5 . . . there I go again. Never mind.
