RC5 stats at Dnet

decibel did some tweeking/upgrading. Among other things, he fixed the errors in the April stats.🙂

Maybe that why I lost about 100,000 blocks over night! If I wasn't such a hard-headed Norwegian that might have been the last straw. 🙂

Keyspace Checked: 85.732%

hmmmmmmmmmm.....we were over 86% the other day😕

going backwards are we

Check your stats, it looks like Dnet found some lost blocks for everyone.🙂

More fun stats bugs.... I'm going to re-run the stats for Aug 18. Expect
some downtime while I'm tinkering about. Sorry for the inconvenience.

And by the way, when it does come time to announce that we've found the
key, it won't be done by breaking stats, so stop sending email everytime
stats is broken asking if that's why. 🙂

Maybe that's why it's showing the stats from two days ago right now! 😛

How are we gonna catch up with DPC? They are doing 2x as many blocks a day as us and have nearly 2x blocks overall done.

How are we gonna catch up with DPC?

We're not. Anandtech members are all about Seti@home these days - and even if they all switched to RC5 I doubt there would be enough time left to catch DPC.

We'll be lucky to hold off the HZteam for second place...

Just a few points of clarification:

1. The DPC passed us when RC5 was THE top DC project as far as heavy participation and output. So I doubt there would be any difference if all the members who left RC5 came back (as far as catching the DPC). It would take all Anandtech members from all other projects, not just RC5. And Team Anandtech has never been about doing just 1 project.

2. SOME Anandtech members are all about SETI. Some left RC5 for other projects besides SETI, and some have left SETI for other projects, and quite a few Anandtech members are running multiple projects.

3. There have been a number of Anandtech teammates who have switched back to RC5 to help out with the final push which should help some in keeping ahead of HZteam. And if asked nicely, there probably are a number of other teammates that would put some mhz in to RC5 just so we maintain our #2 status through the end of the project.

IMHO. 😀

A few more...

First of all, before anyone yells at me for "dissing" their favorite distributed computing project... well, I'm not dissing anythting and don't yell at me. It's just my $0.02

True, but even after the exodus from dnet, TA is still at 1M blocks/day and our SETI output has grown tremendously. I tend to believe we have grown as much as any of the other teams and it would be possible to be #1 in daily output in RC5 if the cycles were aligned that way.

SOME Anandtech members are all about SETI.

Judging from the chatter on the boards and the recruiting, I think it's pretty safe to say that SETI is THE top DC project for TA right now. So I demand you change that "SOME" to a "MOST" 😉

And if asked nicely, there probably are a number of other teammates that would put some mhz in to RC5 just so we maintain our #2 status through the end of the project.

I wouldn't ask anyone to switch anything. DC is for fun, and people will naturally choose whatever is the most fun for them. I personally enjoy the lumping effect... where we are less spread amongst multiple projects and all centered on one. I always intend to switch everything I have to SETI but I'm the lazy distributed computing guy and never get around to it.

Agreed, it is for fun, but I like to think TA was based on cooperation and people helping other people. I believe that was what PTE was created for. 😉
