rc5 participation

Is it just me or has distributed.net rc5 participation started to slow down? It defenetly doesn't seem to grow much, which I kind of find surprising seeing how seti has something like 2 million users, and a project where you can win some cash gets 37,000 users on a really good day, and usually less than that.

I'm usually getting ranked in the top 2000 for the day and gain about 70 spots a day. This should get better now that I got my greasy little hands on a quad-xeon server at work :)

The really cool thing I find about this project is that there IS an end/point to it. The cash would be cool, but it's kinda fun watching the progress go.

I don't think Seti is getting 2 million users every day. Maybe in total. Still rc5 is trailing with only >200k unique participants. Then there is the famous mini-team-strategy. (Litteraly) hundreds of people are using one email-account and therefor dnet thinks they're one participant.

So I think the numbers are a bit incorrect.

Just one quad Xeon? :)

I just took over our quad Xeon, a dual Xeon and a dual P3-866. Of course, once those Xeons go into production in a month or two I will have to remove the client. :(

Yeah, just 1 quad xeon. I actually lost count of how many computers I have running, but I'll try to list them out.

-Only after work, ~12-14 hours a day
quad-xeon (only 400mhz though processors though)

these run 24/7
p3-600 (workstation)
p3-550
p2-233
celeron 400
celeron 707
2xp100

Only when in use by family:
p120
celeron 416
friend's celeron 500

over weekends:
2x dual 400's.

There are probably some othere ones I hijacked that I just can't remember anymore.

Damn, I wonder what the people who rank consistantly in the top 100 use.

Anyone have it on an 8-way system?

Lets try to run down all my systems:

At work
1 Compaq PL8500 (8x550) On sometimes, lab equipment
3 Compaq ML370 (1x733) On 24x7
1 Compaq DL360 (1x800ish) On 24x7
2 Compaq Deskpro (1x600 and 1x500) On 24x7
1 Compaq PL1600 (1x400) On 24x7
1 Compaq PS740 (1x350) On 24x7
1 Compaq PS720 (1x300) On 24x7

At home
2 Desktops (1x800 and 1x300) First one on 12-18 hours, second 24x7
1 Laptop (1x433) usually on 80% of the time

At a school I help out
15 Dell systems (1x1000) On 80% of the time
Several unknown machines, probably 10-15 more between 200-800 in speed

Misc others
1 HP Pavilion (1x200) On 24x7

All that, and you have my stats linked below
(The school network was disconnected from jan to a few days ago, it kicked out lots or random blocks, but is now resuming RC5. I also have all my systems doing RC5 only to see the overall speed, easially controlled at my main proxy)
