RC5 & OGR thingy

I thought we were supposed to do RC5, I see all this OGR stuff.. unless they're the same.. please let me know.

OGR is another project by Distributed.net. RC5 is still the long term project, OGR is just sort of a break. You can do either project, it's personal preference really. Many want to stay with RC5, others of us who have been doing RC5 for a long time need a little break.

There are several threads telling how to disable OGR if you want to stick with RC5.

Just add the following to your ini files, and all will be well:

[misc]
project-priority=RC5,OGR=0,DES=0,CSC=0

Make sure to restart the client after the change.

Actually, if you want my opinion, I think OGR will be the new long-term project for D.Net. OGR is useful, and can continue indefinitely. While RC5 is slightly useful, I don't really see the point of doing RC5-72 for 256*(at least 2 years for RC5-64) == 512 or more years!

Ken_g6,

We may switch to OGR (don't know, would have to consult Two), but NOT until TA achieves number one in RC5. We aim to finish what we started.

Not everyone is switching. Hopefully, we're only going to move enough people so that we can hold first in both, as we have the excess power to do so.🙂
