I haven't ran RC5 in almost a year or something now, but I'll gladly start back up again for TA :)

First of all, thank you for everyone who is trying to help us maintain the lead until the end of the project.

Second, based on the average production since June 11, 2002 they will overtake us in 165 days on December 27, 2002. They have shaved 7 more days off of the time to overtake us in the last 4 days.

Based on the average production since June 11, 2002 they will overtake us in 155 days on December 19, 2002.
They have shaved 10 more days off of the time to overtake us in the last 2 days, thus changing the overtake date by 8 days.

Based on the average production since June 11, 2002 they will overtake us in 148 days on December 19, 2002.

We've held them constant for a week. Yes there were fluctuations within the week. We do better on Saturday and Sunday, and they do better the rest of the week. But for this week we held them to the same overtake day as last week. Now all we have to do is push them back.

I'm doing the best I can pushing 6k - 7k blocks a day.. I've gotten all my friends and I advertised on my forums getting as many guys together as possible. Is it just me though or are their stats slightly messed? I remember them being weird a while back but now it won't even let me change my stats info. :( Either way I'll keep cracking away at RC5.

What's the estimate on the end of RC5? Didn't someone post a thread about it ending in 3 months? Seemed kinda early to me but I haven't been keeping track.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I was thinking of JoeO's thread about being 3 months away from RC5's anniversary. I guess I should actually read the thread instead of guessing from the subject.

My best guess on reaching 100% of the keyspace is January 17, 2003 which is just under 6 months from now.

The end of RC5? Who knows. In the other thread some people expressed the opinion that it would go on to 138% of the keyspace. How is this possible? Read the other thread if you are interested.

Geekish Thoughts has the right idea. Get all your friends, and their friends, and ... to run RC5. We need to recruit outside of the Distributed Computing Forum, outside of the Anandtech Forums, outside of the other teams forums. People we work with. Even if you and they cannot get permission at work, you might be able to get them to run RC5 at home. If RC5 is not their bag, then try Distributed Folding with its health angle. As a last resort (Let the flames begin) suggest SETI. People we meet at parties - here you might as well just go straight to SETI. Those of us who are still in school (Those were the days) should try to recruit all of their classmates. Then they can recruit their parents who can recruit their friends....

I've set a personal goal for myself. I started RC5 about 4 days ago but I'm going to try and hit 1,000,000 blocks before we get to 100% of the keyspace. For the current stats I did 5,400 blocks in one day, but the stats seem to be a day behind and I added a couple more boxes last night.:D

As of 28-Jul-2002 at 23:59 UTC, based on the average production since June 11, 2002 they will overtake us in 147 days on December 21, 2002.

We didn't push em back as far this weekend as last weekend. Last Sunday night we had pushed them back to December 23, 2002.

100% of the keyspace should occur on January 18, 2003. Again this number fluctuates throughout the week, but it was January 18, 2003 last Sunday night as well.

As of 29-Jul-2002 at 23:59 UTC, based on the average production since June 11, 2002 they will overtake us in 141 days on December 16, 2002.

100% of the keyspace should occur on January 18, 2003 based on average production since June 11, 2002.

Each one of us needs to get at least one other person to join the effort.

PS
I will be AFK for a week.

I noticed a few posts above describing flushes. As we approach the end of RC5, DNet will be re-issuing un-returned blocks at an increasing rate. Their latest graph actually supports using a 4-day turnaround, meaning that if someone downloads a block but doesn't return it in four days, there is a 75% chance it won't be returned, therefore it will need to be re-issued.

So, my advice is - don't let your cache of RC5 blocks get more than 4 or 5 days old, or you might not get credit for them. As we get closer to the end (95% complete), the re-issue rate will be more like 2 days.

Hopefully, TA will find the key before then, especially before HZ gets much closer.

To push the overtake date beyond the 100% keyspace date we would need 190GHZ of Athlon Tbird/Duron goodness.
