RC5 client setup help

spencer

I talked my sister into cracking for TA and helped her get the client installed but I don't know how to configure her client for dial-up since I have cable internet access.

I just need to know how to make it download enough wu's for a couple of days. All she knows about her computer is that it's a PII about two years old so I figure it's maybe a 266 or 300.

This is what mine says.

<< 11) Fetch:Flush work threshold ==> RC5=-1:-1,DES=-1:-1,OGR=-1:-1,CSC=-1:-1
12) Fetch time threshold (in hours) ==> RC5=0,DES=0,CSC=0
>>

Could someone give me an idea of what numbers I need to put in here? Will the client automatically dial up her internet connection?

You are on the right track, spencer, just put 48 in option 12 there, that will have it buffer 48 hours' worth of blocks.

Also, from the main screen, type in 2-6-9(dial-up link detection)-2(detection only mode). This will set it so the computer will only update when she's online.

DES and CSC are old, finished contests. OGR is still being tested, but will be starting soon. The way the client defaults, it will switch to OGR automatically when the DNET keyservers send out the "time to switch" command with key requests.
