rc5 and seti @ low cpu priority = still q3 get lower score?
when i run seti and know rc5 (only rc5) at low priorety then still it has influence on my quake3 ?? why??
quake 3 with rc5 running: 94 fps in demo four
quake 3 without rc5 running: 113 fps in demo four

is that just a fact or is it an error on my behave???

SETI and RC5 won't actually use any CPU cycles while games like Quake are running. However, SETI reserves approximately 13-14MB of RAM for itself that it holds on to even when it's not actively crunching. If your system is limited on memory, it could be that extra 13MB is making the difference...

Any program you have running on your comp will affect another program running simultaneously, be it rc5, seti or having M$ Word running. It is just the nature of the beast. If you have things running in your system tray, they are taking up resources. Excess icons on your desktop will affect FPS in gaming.......so slight you'll hardly notice but it still uses something to produce that image.
To maximize your gaming only load a minimal OS and the game of your choice ONLY.........Yeah right:D, can your eyes tell the difference between 94fps and 113 fps.....I think not....so game on and crack on and enjoy :D

Hi again and thx 4 answeres!

It's not because of the ram they reserve to them selfs. RC5 don't take much ram and i have 512 mb ram (2 x 256 pc133 apacer). And it's not because I need the extra fps in the game. it's just if the thing is caused by an error on my side then i have to correct it. If that's just the natural thing and there is nothing u can do about then that's just the way it have to be. ;) once again thx 4 answeres

I've heard of a 1-2% FPS drop in games leaving them on ,myself I just turn SETI off in a game ,that way the WU times aren't hurt;)
