RC5-72 participation

Who here is running RC5-72 on their computers? I started running it a few weeks ago. Need more members to climb in the rankings.

This also means that we'll hit 100% in 654,347 days at yesterday's rate. / 365 = 1,792 years to find a hiden key ???

Why would I spend my entire life looking for a key I'll never be able to find ? at least with other folding projects there is a human reason and benefit.

True, but at the rate at which the ghz race is going, that number is going to decrease dramatically.

That's amazing.....,

Great minds think alike, you beat me to posting about this by less than an hour.....

🙂

i am running it now has well. 😉

I am also thinking about writing my own stats software for realtime stats 😀. 😛

I just checked and we're at ~593,000 days to go. Even if we go 10 times faster, that's still over 100 years to go.

10 years ago I was using a 386 sx 20, now I use an amd 2000xp. If the difference is this dramatic in 10 years you can devide that 593k by 1000. Assuming we never get 1 more person to join.

exactly. Every person who joins drops that number. Considering participation still isnt as high as RC564, the numbers will go down. I participate, BTW. Moving up in the ranks

also considering that after the first 2 weeks we were at 3500 years and now we are at 1700.... We have cut that in half after only 3 months.... It will go down with more members, faster computers, and optimized cores. Also RC5-64 was at 1000 years after the first 6 months or so... RC5-64 took what like 5-6 years or so? Now don't get me wrong I'd run the others if they were as easy to manage as Dnet but they aren't... I have centralized network shares that everyone pulls from I manage everything from there... Very easy setup...

Incedently, RC5-72 may be the one addiction that could possibly break my EQ addiction. EQ is cutting into my stats far to much, (damn bazaar trader)

>I was planning on starting RC5 if SETI1 ended, but it doesn't look like that will happen too soon

They will find extraterrestrial life before they find the rc72 key 🙂

>Every person who joins drops that number

Yea I know but your not going to see anything near the numbers 64 had because of the other 'life' projects.

and then, what to prove, what to gain with RC5-72? Its not even some secret stuff which may be interesting! I mean... if it would be the X-Files or whatever... yeah, why not? But they proved that RC5-64 is quite secure... RC5-72 is even more secure. So what? If you want it safe... go for RC5-256 or whatever... it would gonna take a while till someone has enough power to crack that. Ok... stats whores like RC5-72... but aren't there other projects with cool stats too? I kinda like my F@H stats.

Of course, if you like to use RC5-72, why not. But I don't see any sense in doing that.

I would have to agree with Havoc. You can't find an easier to manage client for network connectivity. Like E.T. is really out there. 🙂

Yea, that's the one thing that I really liked about the client. It's sad that other clients for the projects that I run are not as good. However, I'm not planning to run RC5-72 just because it will take so long to complete, and because it proves nothing new and doesn't seem to have a practical purpose. If you want to run it "just because," or for some other reason, that's fine, but I won't be helping. 🙁
