I think there is supposed to be a settings option in the initial setup sub-menu that says something like time and date.

I just set mine (didn't think about powering it off), go to Initial Setup > Time and Date > Turn OFF "Auto Update", then you can set it.

*EDIT*
Just tested it - Turning it off and on updates it when "Auto Update" is enabled.
