I can't use an electric shaver because it does not cut close enough and my skin gets irritated. I buy Gillette Mach3 blades and it costs $9.75 for a pack of 4! I think it's ridiculous that these refills cost so much.

yea...... somewhere on Ebay you can buy cryogenically frozen blades for mach 3s.... a little more expensive, but they feel like a new razor for about 5 shaves.... never ever had a better shave than with those...

Which is why I tend to feel a lot of pain when I near the end of a blades life. I'm a stingy bastard and use my blade after it's become dull...

Cryogenically frozen? Why?

It's a type of Mach 3 razors.... they're treated cryogenically during the manufacturing process to keep them sharp longer.

if you're a member at costco or bj's or some other wholesale club or at least know someone who is, you can get a whole bunch or the razors for a better unit price than you can at retail.

That's how the razor companies make their money - suck you in with the razor, then charge up the butt for the blades. ;)

Hence the term "razor blade marketing." Pretty much every marketing book talks about that at some point.

I got 16 pack for 27 and I thought it was expensive. That was from Sams club about a year ago... I still have dozen left.

Hope that helps.

4 packs of Mach3 cost about $6 at Target. Mach3 Turbos are about $9! for 4. How often do you change them? And as mentioned above, try eBay.

Even at Sam's and Costco they are still pretty steep. I try to stretch mine out to once a month changing it.

I can't wait for when the MAch 7 comes out and they are $4.99 a blade

Kind of like they do with inkjet printers. They practically give away the printers but then rape you with the ink costs.

A month on one blade? Yeouch!

When I'm shaving my head I can't get more than 2 shaves out of a blade, & I can't let it go more than one day without shaving or shaving with a blade becomes extremely difficult. Keeping a shaved head is expensive.

I have to change my razor weekly since I shave everyday(sometimes excluding weekends) and I have a thick beard. Sounds like Sams is the way to go and I'll give Ebay a shot.

I guess you've rejected using cheaper blades. How about Schick, the AMD of razors? :p

Or a straight razor? That'll be really macho . . .

heh yeah Viper if I shaved my head i'd probably have to cut that down a bit. I shave every day but my beard isnt too bad, the new blade definately feels good when i change it! I do the same thing with my contacts, they are supposed to be 2 week and discard, I ususally go 6-8 or until they get too gummy.

Nothing like a shave with a straight razor....every couple of months I go to this old barber in my hometown...He was a medic in WWII and is at least 80 but still has a steady hand...nothing like that hot shaving cream....the close shave...then the warm towels...of course the day I walk in and he's shaking Katherine Hepburn during an earthquake I'm outta there!!!!!!!!
