Razer Naga Cursor drifting - what causes this?

Suddenly out of the blue, my razer naga mouse cursor started drifting from the center of the screen towards the lower right corner slowly. The mouse is perfectly still, nothing is touching it at all.

I uninstalled the driver, reinstalled the most recent driver i could find for Win7 x64 and also upgraded to the latest firmware avail for the razer naga as well. Still drifts on random occasions. Sometimes it will behave perfectly for days, then all of the sudden, there it goes again, drifts off to the lower right from where ever the cursor is on the screen.

I have even tried inserting the cord into other USB ports, still all do the same thing.

Anyone else ever seen this before? Ive had the mouse a while and it has always been fine till today. I scanned the system for malware, bugs etc, comes up clean.

Try the mouse on a different surface. It could be that the sensor sometimes rests in the perfect spot where it gets confused by the image that it's seeing.

It depends on the surface. If its on cotton. Its going to move by itself espeically if you have music playing and lots of bass. Which is why I use my mouse on a 3m surface with grip on it,, so mouse doesnt move by itself.

This is how Razer products are man, been using them since 2000 Boomslang. You need to also clean the bottom of the mouse with a clean rag and water, alchohol the sensor , dont be alarmed if mouse doesnt move after that, it has to dry... Anyhow. Like I had a problem where my mouse would get stuck like 30 times a day,, it would just get stuck then couple seconds later go again. Soo I took ear pick and alchohol then after that cleaned with rag and water.. dryed it up with blower , and now it hasnt gotton stuck even once. The Razer rep said you need to send in mouse, but nothing was wrong. These things are sensitive thats all.. When I especially compose music I cant use on cotton pad it moves when I try to insert notes cuz of the bass.. so I use this 10 year old 3m Precise mousing surface... it has grip and mouse doesnt move by itself. thanks gl

I was looking at buying one of these today...read a number of reviews that had the same problem you are having...and a number of other reviews that said you pretty much have to buy a razer mousepad.

i have the same exact issue, but i'm using the Razer Goliathus mouse pad so obviously that doesnt help. did you ever find a fix for it? i cant return the mouse so i hope its fixable.

I was having this issue as well with my razer naga. I came across a post on another forum stating these mice are extremely sensitive to vibration. If you have anything on your desk that is causing even a slight vibration that is the reason. In my case i had an air purifier on the top of my desk that i kept on 24/7 when i turned it off the drift stopped. turned it back on and drift happened again.

Definitely not the mousepad. hope this helps

Thanks empwillkill! Was looking for a solution and this was it! I had a small fan on my desk that would cause it to vibrate very faintly but constantly. To think that the first one I had that I RMA'ed due to this issue was because of my desk fan...

i turned down the dpi on my razer naga and it helped. from 2400 to 1800 dpi.(still 1000mhz polling rate)

i was blasting music and the speakers on the table vibrated the table.
subwoofer was not touching the table....but surprised me....how sensitive the sensor was.

didn't happen on my razer abyssus tho.
