Razer Krait or something more tame/useful

So I'm getting a new notebook and can't decide what type of mouse to go with.

On the one hand the Krait seems really appealing because I've heard great things about its sensitivity, precision, feel, etc. However, I'm not sure how much I need a "professional gaming" quality mouse. I play games, but mostly steer clear of FPS. I have a relatively cheap, wireless mouse right now and haven't really had any complaints against it (though I still want to replace it). Will the Krait be overkill?

I'm thinking about instead going with a nice wireless mouse. The notebook version with the USB stick receiver seem pretty nifty, especially the ones that clip onto the mouse for easy travel. However, most are pretty small and I have large hands. Additionally, I'm getting a 17" desktop replacement and probably won't travel with it all that much, and when I do, I doubt I'll notice the difference between a small, portable mouse and a larger, desktop-oriented one.

Have any of you been in the same situation? Any advice to offer? Thanks.

I think it depends a bit on how much you'll have to pay for it. Overall, Krait will be worth it's money.
Krait is a wired mouse, you said you didn't have any problems with that. But personally with a lappy I already have this much to carry with me, so I would prefer it wired.

The thing that worries me the most is your hands, I can't stress enough to play around with the mouse a bit. Even though Razer mice will always feel awkward when coming from a logitech/microsoft, you will have to be able to put your hands around it without getting cramps.

Using a mouse you like makes even every day usage so much more enjoyable, in my experience. And by that, I'm referring mostly to the shape of the mouse and the number/placement of buttons. If you can, you should really give the Krait a try before buying it, as it's quite a small mouse (very narrow, in particular) to make sure that it's something you'll be comfortable with. And if the Krait shares more with my Viper than just the shape, it will also have a ludicrously long cord that you might not want to deal with, given that you'll be using it with a laptop.

Of course, my solution to the situation you're in was to buy one of everything - I have more gaming mice alone than I have limbs, and I barely play games any more!

I bought a DTR notebook 4 years ago and had no problems packing it up with a wired mouse. You usually never use a DTR "on the go", instead you use it as a portable computer, one that you can use at location A - pack up and move to location B and use it there all the same. I'd recommend getting a mouse you'd want to use on any regular computer because that's how you'll most likely be using your DTR.

An advantage of a wireless mouse is to extend the range you can use your mouse from where your computer is (and not have to worry about wires). However with a notebook you'll probably never have more than 3 wires hooking into it (power, network, mouse) - less if you hook up to a wireless network and/or run off batteries. Because of that I never did mind directly plugging in a mouse to my notebook. There was way more cord than necessary so I could easily manage it to where it never got in my way (considering Razer mice have 7 foot cords, and your mouse is going to be a most a 1-2 feet away from a USB port on your notebook...)

I vote habu... I love mine, it's very comfortable and the sensitivity switching on the mouse is a very nice addition.

The Habu is nice, but so is the DeathAdder. Might as well throw in the more mature Copperhead as well. But all three are out of the price range of the Krait.
