Razer Keyboard question

My current keyboard is starting to die. I really can't complain, it's a wireless combo I got from Staples 6 years ago. It worked beautifully for years, but in the last couple months it's been having problems holding a signal and sometimes I'll hit a key once and it won't type the letter, or I'll hit a key and get 20 of that letter. It only works perfectly when it's pointed directly at the receiver. My mouse did this several months ago, so I figure it's time for a replacement.

I do quite a bit of gaming, so I want looking at getting a Razer Lycosa keyboard. It's backlit, looks very bright, and I like the features on it. I'm just wondering if it'll do one thing that the website doesn't seem clear on. On my current keyboard, I have programmable keys that let me launch a program or file with one button. I really love this feature, but I can't tell for sure if the Lycosa has it. I've seen people listing it in their sigs, so I'm hoping someone that owns it can let me know if it does that. Or if not, point out a similar one that will.

I checked out the mechanical keyboards and they are way out of my price range for a backlit one. Maybe I"ll go mechanical for my next keyboard. But for right now, those are little too much for me.
 
Eh, just give up the backlighting. I was in the same boat, wanted/needed backlighting but I really don't miss it after trying a bunch of mechanical keyboards and realizing it's mainly a gimmick.
 
Razer Tarantula FTW, has 10 programmable macro keys and even comes with a little tool that makes popping the keys off to clean inside a snap. I've owned dozens of keyboards and this one is by far my favorite. I would easily chose it over any other board, yes even the mechanical ones. They're nice to type on sure, but all of them are uber butt ugly.

Well, I emailed Razer's tech support. They completely rock as far as response times go. I got a reply within 12 hours and the answer is yes, you can program the keys to open programs. Just in case anyone else wants to know.
