i got me the new razer mouse a few weeks back and i am having problems with it. it will work for roughly an hour or so and after that it just stops working. the light on the mouse is still on, but the cursor wont move.

i went to razer's site and go a driver there, but the same problem continues. any suggestions on what i should do to solve this problem?

Sounds like a faulty mouse, all you can do is try a different USB port see if that helps at all, otherwise try it in a different PC .

If you unplug it, wait 10-15 seconds, and plug it back in, does it work then? It could be something to do with your USB ports too.

I've never had USB ports power themselves off without the entire system getting powered off. Sounds like, at least to me, that the mouse is going/gone bad. Try a different mouse (USB) and see how that works for you. If the other mouse works fine, then you know it's the razor.

that would suck if that is the case, because i just used the mouse for about 1-2 weeks. but i'll fiddle around with it to see if i can get it to work. thanks for the help guys.

Oh, yeah. Under Device Manager, either under the USB Controller or USB Host Port settings (forget which), there should be a checkbox, "Allow Windows to turn off this device to save power" or something like that. Make sure that setting is NOT checked.

It could be possible that Windows' is temporarily powering-down the USB port/device, and due to the custom drivers that the Razor uses, may be interfering. Just a thought. Does this happen totally randomly, or regularly, after a short period of inactivity? (IOW, does it also happen when you are actively using it too? If so, then scratch my idea.)

yea it happens when i am in the middle of a game. it just shuts off. i am beginning to lean towards the fact that its the mouse. but i'll try the "save power" box to see how it goes.

I didn't mean to have that look like this *is* the issue. I was just trying to give you some info that may or may not be related.

I have another problem with the razer - the scroll wheel sometimes scrolls in the wrong direction ! It happens during the time I'm pushing the wheel continously for a few "slots" so sometimes in the middle of this it scroll in the other direction for a split second ! It makes it really frustrating because I can't judge how much I need to scroll, for example if I want to scroll half a page down I rotate the wheel a few slots, but somewhere in the middle of the scroll it gives a signal for the opposite direction (and the window briefly jerks in the other direction) for a split second, but that cancels part of the scroll in the right direction, so I end up scrolling let window much less then what I intended, so I have to continue rotating the wheel. Also I nticed it happens during UT24K where it interferes with accurate weapon switching (which is crucial). Did anyone else experienced this jerky scroll wheel issue?

user1234, I've not seen anyone complaining about issues like the one you're having. Have you tried different drivers with it? This is the latest beta driver, older versions are available here, and this is the one I'm using. It's old but works perfectly for me so I haven't messed with it.

You and the original poster may want to ask over on the Razer forums. Like I said, I've not heard anyone mention your specific problem but there have been posts of problems like vood0g's.

thanks a lot ! in fact I haven't even installed any drivers yet, since I'm mostly using this mouse with linux, but I will try the windows drivers and see if that solves the problem there. Hopefully it's just a software problem, but of course I will have to find out how to fix it in linux as well. I shall report back on this issue.
