Never heard of Levitz.

I've bought my living room, kitchen, and recently a bedroom set from Raymour and Flanigan. I haven't had a problem with any of it.

I usually go back there for the simple reason that they almost always have 0% financing for three or four years.

RF is actually smaller chain, northeast only.
Levitz is a bigger chain, being on the east and west coast.

where i am in NJ, both are usually a couple of miles within each other.

I too have never heard of raymour flanigan, but beware of Levitz...they have been having some serious financial problems for the past few years, (again) and you may not be able to get any help if the product you buy from them has problems down the road...

Doing a bit of Googling on Levitz, it appears that Prentice Capital Management LP bought them out of bankruptcy, so they now MAY be more stable than I thought.

"Following this operational realignment, Levitz will have 79 stores in the profitable West Coast and New York metropolitan markets. Stores scheduled for closing and liquidation over the coming weeks include:

-- Connecticut: Danbury, Manchester, Milford, Newington, Norwalk,
Plainville and Stamford
-- Pennsylvania: Downington, Fairless Hills, Hatfield, King of Prussia,
Langhorne, Philadelphia, Plymouth Meeting, Reading,
Springfield and Whitehall
-- New Jersey: Cherry Hill, Deptford, Lawrenceville, Livingston, Mays
Landing, River Edge, and Wall Township
-- Delaware: Claymont, Newark, and Wilmington
-- Minnesota: St. Paul
-- New York: Nesconset (Clearance Center) and Queens (Queens
Boulevard)
-- Arizona: Scottsdale
-- California: Cathedral City, Glendale (Clearance Center), Oxnard"

When we bought our house in 1999, we bought a LOT of new furniture from Levitz. The ONLY thing they wouldn't stand behing (at the time) was the mattress set...anything else that had problems they took care of immediately.(ony one little issue with a Rowe sofa) Nothing wrong with the mattress either, but it was specified at the time, that once you bought a mattress set, it was yours...no 30 day home trial like many places offer...no "I don't like this mattress, I want a different/harder/softer one"...Which is fine, we bought what we wanted...just passing that along.
