"What is Raw Foodism?
The simplest definition is that it is the practice of ingesting only those foods that have not been cooked. Usually the practitioner is a vegan which means that only plant foods are eaten. There are some schools of thought that include raw meat, raw fish, and raw dairy products as well. "

Anyway, for the past two years I've been living at what's been called alternative on-campus housing, which loosely translates to "housing with a catch." The catch is that there are some people here that believe in sustainable foods - growing things and eating them, because there are actually gardens and farms here where you can plant your own stuff. That's no so bad, because this place is actually pretty nice: 12' x 10' single rooms, private bathrooms, and kitchens in every building, see pic. This year, this fanatical raw foodist guy moves in and is just freaking crazy in his fanaticism. He not only eats raw vegetables constantly, and juices and mashes them, but he insists on saving the scraps to make compost. Fine by me, but don't leave the scraps out in the kitchen. I walk out this morning and it was like jurassic park. Hundreds of fruit flies flying around the hallway perced on the walls, coming through the heating ducts, in the bathrooms, all centered on the pre-compost he left in the kitchen. :disgust: I want to throw his stuff away but I don't want him to attack me for throwing away his compost. Grrr... Oh well, just thought I should share that with you guys.
