Hey there.. Need some advice on a buying a new SUV. The 2007 4 cylinder versions of the Toyota Rav4 and 2007 Honda CRV fall within my budget but am wondering which one to get. From what I read online, the Rav4 has better reviews in terms of performance, etc. I'd appreciate some first hand opinions on what to get.

Thankss

From what I see online, it'll cost more... I'm getting a Rav4 almost fully loaded ( minus the leader and sunroof ) for $23k and about the same for the CRV. Hence I'd prefer to stick to the Toyota/Honda

My wife has the new style 06 CRV EX. Paid around 22k, no leather but has sun roof. No complaints after 11 months. She likes it.

My parents were in for the CRV but then things caused them to RAISE their budget and ended up buying a Acura RDX

I'm somewhat looking at both vehicles as well (RAV4 and CRV). The Xterra does cost a bit more but gets crappy gas mileage because of the V6.

but you do want the V6 if you load lots of gear into your car.

I don't like the looks of the CRV...my mom has a RAV and it's a nice little vehicle. She hardly drives it (about 5-7k miles a year) but it looks like new and was a 1999.

The only things it's needed has been tires. We threw on a new set of struts and shocks that came on sale down here my dad picked up and it rode a lot nicer than even new.

the Rav4 has option for V6 which only takes away an avg of 1 mpg (same goes for AWD).
Then the difference (to me) is having a normal trunk hatch or the swinging door.
Toyota and Honda are both very good overall.

I think that since the CRV switched to the lift up gate, they dropped the full-size spare tire.

As always: test drive both and pick the one you like best~
