I've used a func 1030 for about 3 years.. maybe more. I beta tested the final version when I was a soph in high school. I've used it everyday, all day, ever since then. I've always used the rough side and it's NEVER worn down.

One down side (and it's a major downside) is that the way the surface goes into the rubber seat SUCKS. It has never stayed in; and I've used a razor to shave the edges off and it still doesn't fit in there

Btw - your sensitivity is nothing in CS - mine is 15. :D
I used to play Quake 2 with a sensitivity of 30.

I'm still on my original Ratpad. Bought it in late 2001. I acutally like it better when it has some more traction.

wow i bought one of these when they first came out.. actually its a hardocp.com-branded one
still use it to this day, its seen so much you wouldn't believe.. still use it constantly, though the flame logo is 95% worn off and the hardocp.com logo is starting to go now, but its on the edge i dont use :)

nothing so great about it, it just works and i never even thought about it

although I must also say, I've trained myself (unconsciously) to use only like a tiny corner of the whole mousing surface anyway.. and the texture on this area is like a baby's ass now compared to the other side

if teflon tape wears a surface, its not worth bothering with lol:) b4 i got my c4, i used to simply use just teflon tape over the feet. and even before that i just used everglides, which is basically a ratz. without teflon, both the mouse feet AND the pad wore quite rapidly, maybe a year before it was noticable. esp with soft logitech teflon feet. the old ms feet were some hard lousy plastic. ratz/everglide vs teflon tape feet, ratz wins. had to replace everyonce in a while. and thats good since tape from cshyde.com is basically a life time supply for a couple bux unlike some places. now with c4 and tef tape, i haven't changed either in quite a while.

hah, optical sensors have nothing to do with ergonomics;) its just a sensor. its like saying a card board box is good enough of a computer workstation since you've got a wireless keyboard and stuff.
