The percentage of U.S. adults who believe that God created humans in their present form at some time within the last 10,000 years or so -- the strict creationist view -- has reached a new low. Thirty-eight percent of U.S. adults now accept creationism, while 57% believe in some form of evolution -- either God-guided or not -- saying man developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life.

It's a shame there are still so many who have come to accept evolution's fact, but still attribute it to the supernatural, but it is nonetheless progress. I wish there were global statistics like this to compare these metrics among different nations.

Good to see. But it doesn't really matter. Plenty of talented people around the world who will pick up the slack in science and technology if Americans are too stupid.

Christian Fundamentalism is an important subset of Republican voters. Pandering to and supporting their imbecilic notions of creation is important to winning elections. It doesn't matter to people who are in good economic conditions in political offices whose favors are sought by the wealthy, as that is far more important to scum than the long term scientific development of the nation. Fundamentalism is religion that has no faith. Every truth must be literally correct of the pretend faith of the faithless would collapse if one single thing turned out to be wrong. Of course, to hate them for their childish naiveté is to have no real faith either. Fundamentalists at least believe in THE GOOD or THE ONE GOD but they have no idea who or what He is. Atheists just happen correctly most of the time to see that GOOD in Humanism. It's all the same thing, people knowing there is a GOOD but arguing over what it is. It is the argument that reveals the lack of real faith. There is a GOD or a GOOD. There is one Truth and it covers us all. Those who see it have left the battle field and have entered the kingdom of heaven or the oneness of being.

How does it not matter? Are you not from the USA? Even if you're not though, destabilization of the USA could threaten whatever nation you're from considering it's a nuclear capable superpower.
