All these threads about how much President Bush stinks have got me thinking somewhat. Now, most of those other threads have offered rather slim reeds on which to "prove" the President's evil and/or incompetent nature, mostly they focus on arcane policies and programs which, quite frankly, make most of our eyes glaze over.
However, there is one standard which seems to remain a constant over time, no matter what the personality or politics of the person holding the Oval Office at any given time. That's the truism that a President worth a damn will have an assassination attempt made on him. All the good modern Presidents have gone through this, think about it... Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, Ford (well, he's the exception which proves the rule i guess), all had assassination attempts. Clinton was lucky enough to even have someone attempt it by crashing a plane into the White House... now that's publicity money can't buy, i'm telling ya! Heck, one President (Bush Sr.) was so good, that he even had an assassination attempted on him after he left office.
Bush #2 has been in office for well nigh eight months now, and nary a peep of any assassination attempt. That doesn't bode well for him and the rest of his term... remember, Carter was so distraught by the "assassin gap" that he needed to come up with an "assassin rabbit" (Story link for those too young to remember) to establish his own credibility. Needless to say, the American people were hardly satisfied with having Thumper be the one to be gunning for the Prez, and we all know what happened to Carter in the 1980 election, don't we?
People on the Republican side, this is a matter to which you should devote some attention. The historical trend is in place. Obviously, Bush II ain't cutting it, if he can't even get some fruit loop to want to take a shot at him. Might want to make some subtle inquiries among the right people to get this matter resolved... your political futures might depend on it :Q
P.S. For the humor-impaired out there (and that automatically includes anyone out there from the Secret Service or FBI who might be reading these forums), the above are merely observations, and i am not advocating or approving those out there loopy enough to do such a thing, to carry out any dangerous or illegal acts. So tell the SWAT and BATF agents to relax, and forget the wiretap on my phone, k?
