Rather strange wireless router issue...

Hello,

I am writing here because i do not know what else to try.
I wanted to set up a wireless network at home. I bought linksys wireless router (WRT54GC) and set it up. Wireless internet was working but to my surprise it was really slow: approx 2-4 KB (my internet connection is 50KB). Slow via both, wireless and wire. I tested it on two laptops and a desktop. I thought my router is broken and gave it to my friend who tested it home and said it was wroking just fine!

Then, i got Buffalo wireless router and again - the same. Internet slows down via both cable and wireless. Router settings on both cases are just hitting in my fixed ip address. No fancy configs no nothing.

My internet connection is radio link.

UPDATE: When i try torrents via router - it hits up to expected speed approx 40KB. But simple HTTP (browsing) is slow - 2-4 KB). What is wrong with my internet.

it works fine. it slows down only going through the router(s).
Not only it slows down it tends to hick-up. I.e. at the very first miliseconds the speed is almost at max. then it instantly starts to slow down reaching 2-5 KB... and then it tends to "freeze" while downloading at that rate.

edit: i've tried changing channels, cloning mac address, upgraded the latest firmware..
