is there any parts I can change around to get better performance for the same price, or to get a cheaper price for the same performance? Should I switch the memory speed from 1600 to the o.c. 2000?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Here are the problems with the build:

The i5-2500K is the same price as the 1100T, but the i5-2500K is faster in most cases, especially when it comes to gaming. Take a look here.

Things are different with the older i5-760, but the i5-760 still beats the 1100T when it comes to gaming (and it's cheaper at $200!). See here.

You're paying waaaaay too much on a 1TB HDD. The Samsung F3 1TB is as fast, but cheaper. For the same price as the WD Black, you could be getting the F4 2TB instead (5400rpm), which is only slightly slower than the F3 (thanks to the uber high density 666GB platters).

Here's the Samsung F4 2TB:

and the F3 1TB:

It looks like the tests were run on two different systems/versions, but the general idea is still there.

I would not recommend buying any RAM beyond DDR3-1600. The gains going from DDR3-1333 to DDR3-1600 is already small. Going beyond that is just pointless and a waste of money.

You're also severely overestimating power requirements. I'm sorry, your computer isn't that powerful.

Case is ok, but just know that there are cheaper cases that can provide about the same amount of airflow. I'm guilty of overspending on cases anyways. Seeing what I want on sale really doesn't help either.

My proposed build:
$245 - 6950 1GB

$120 - HAF 932

$200 - i5-760

$100 - ASRock P55 PRO/USB3
No SATA III, but add $20-30 for a mobo that has it. Good if you're planning on picking up a Vertex 3 in the near future.

$48 - G.SKILL 2x2GB DDR3-1600

Alternatively... you have probably have the budget for 8GB of ram.
$80 - G.SKILL 2x4GB DDR3-1333
Add another $16 for DDR3-1600. DDR3-1600 might be useful if you plan on OCing.

$65 - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB

$40 - Antec NEO ECO 520C

Total: $818, not including shipping and rebates.

If you can wait, the i5-2500K is like $230 and a P67 mobo is $130-150.

You've simply created a list of components (linked), that aren't even visible in THIS THREAD.
We have to navigate away from this thread to even know what the parts are.
I rate it a 2.75 out of a possible 10.

You could glean much insight from reading threads in this forum.

^ Yes, only links & no part names in the OP makes it a fail. Fortunately fffblackmage has got the build & the thread back on the right track. The quadcore i5 and 2x2GB are a good start to a gaming build with some movie editing. If the editing or other tasks are more heavy-duty, there is room in the budget for more RAM or more/faster storage.
