I have been out of the loop for a while on current hardware. Looking at replacing my aging system with this:

NewEgg Wishlist

I am trying to put together a nice mid-range system. I have tried to be VERY conciensous about cost, while maintaining maximum capacity for upgradeability. (In short, the cheapes mid-range system that can easily be upgraded to a high end system)

CPU - AMD Athlon64 3000+ Venice - $147.99
MB - BIOSTAR N4SLI-A9 Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI - $129.00
Memory - pqi TURBO 2 x 512MB PC 3200 - $92.00
Video - eVGA 128-P2-N368-TX GF6600GT PCI-E - $169.00
Hard Drive - HITACHI Deskstar 7K250 160GB SATA - $84.00
DVD/CDR - NEC ND-3520A - $44.00
Case - RAIDMAX ATX-208 - $20.75
Power Supply - OCZ ModStream OCZ45012U 450W - 81.95 ($15 mail-in rebate)
OS - WindowsXP Home - 91.95

Subtotal: $860.64
Shipping: $34.46
Total: 895.10

I do some gaming, but not a lot...it is not a priority. If I am dissappointed in gaming performance, I plan on getting another 6600GT and using SLI.

Any system I can get for that cheap, I'd go for it. Expecially a high end system like that. Would be over 2 grand to build here.
