Inspired by the movie thread

I didn't see any threads like this in the console or PC gaming forums so lets see how this works out.

List the name of the game, the system, a rating (out of 10), and a short description/review

Metal Gear Solid 4 - PS3 - 11/10 - Just finished it. Awesome story, awesome game, one of the best games ever, imo!

Mercenaries 2 - PS3 - 7/10 - Been playing for a bit. It's pretty fun but starting to get a bit repetive now. Graphics could be better but still look pretty decent to me. Not much story.

Guitar Hero: World Tour (guitar only) - PS3 - 4/10 - This is the 1st time I have played this type of game and I haven't played a whole lot yet, but so far it's pretty meh (boring). I don't get what the big deal is over these types of games. I'll give it a little more time but I have a feeling this one will end up on Ebay or something.

Prototype - PC - 8.5/10 - Roughly halfway through the missions. Pretty fun overall. Fairly challenging and doesn't get repetitive (to me).

forgot Pure - PS3 - 8/10 - pretty fun to fire up every now and then. It's pretty repetitive, imo. Graphics look great though and the racing is fun. It's not super hard or super realistic where its frustrating.

Ratchet and Clank - 8/10 - Fun cutscenes but the game is a little too trigger happy.
Burnout Paradise - 9/10 - All the different objectives are fun as hell; crashing too often, not so much.
Folklore - 6/10 - The presentation of the story is original, but the gameplay gets repetitive fast.

Mass Effect - 7/10
Interesting story, good voice acting, lots of places to explore, action was enjoyable, and I actually cared about the characters but there was things wrong with it but it wasn't horrible. Still the best RPG I've played since KOTOR cus there haven't been many good ones since then.

Fallout 3 - 5/10
Boring characters, horrible voice acting, boring sidequests, main quest and ending sucked, walking around with nothing to interact with got boring as well. Modding it is pretty much needed to get any enjoyment out of it. Going through my second playthrough and modding it definitely is better but still needs so much changed.

Bioshock - 8/10
Very enjoyable game, cool story, awesome twist, cool enemies, 50's feel was cool to me, but just didn't seem deep enough to me but was still a good game.

Street Fighter 4 - 10/10, best fighting game i've played in YEARS and is very competitive online.

Prototype - 6/10 after playing it for about an hour. it feels very meh and feels like the game is in a beta form. the animation is pretty meh, the gameplay is pretty meh, and i jus tdon't really care about the character.

Tiger Woods 2010 - 5/10, this game should be called Tiger Woods 2009.1. It is virtually identical to 2009 w/slightly better graphics, but nothing has changed really. there is a new putting mode, but i don't care because i use the 3 click mode anyways. the menus are even virtually identical. this game needs to stop coming out yearly.

Red Faction:Guerrilla - 8/10 - Great game, but a one and done IMO.

Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon - 6.5/10 - Much better than reviews indicated. The superball gun was one of the most enjoyable weapons I've used in a long time, and very appropriate to 70's pop culture at the same time. It did a good job on 70's pop culture stuff all together. The reviewers that made charges of racist stereotyping, are engaging in idiotic PC horse shat as well. Blatant racist stereotyping in TV and Movies was common place during that time period, WhyTF would they not include and/or lampoon it? Incorporating Bruce Lee movies into the storyline was pretty funny too. The John Saxon and Bolo characters were a good touch.

The biggest complaints include: The entire game could have been for PS2 or Xbox. I saw nothing in, graphics, A.I., physics, or any other aspect that warranted a 360/PS3 to run . And yet, there were many frame rate issues, most confusing. It also starts out very poorly, and doesn't pick-up until you get some of the more interesting weapons and upgrades. It was a lot like the first, didn't play the second, and a good, light hearted play through. Again, a one and done.

Godfather 2 - 6/10 - Decent gameplay mechanics, good length of the game any longer and I would've got bored for sure. Not much substance, but a good rental run through.

Tiger 2010 - 7/10 - Like mentioned, very similar to '09. The integrated internet stuff(weather, real pga scoring) is pretty cool, not $60 cool, but still cool. I just plain like video golf though, its about the best "sit down and chill" type sports game you can play.

NHL 3 on 3 - 9/10 - Just an amazing multiplayer game. NHL Hitz '03 was better for features and depth, but 3 on 3 is technically superior and next year should be the best ever.

Burnout Paradise - 9/10 - Probably one of the top three racing games I've ever played. Just a perfect perfect arcade game, so much to do and they keep pumping out that DLC I should try someday.

Conan 8.5/10 (how did I miss this game?)
Left4Dead 5/10 (eh, really, people got excited over this?)

Punch Out!! - 8.5/10, Exactly what I expected. Classic gameplay with pretty graphics to boot.

inFamous - 8/10, I still hate aiming with my thumbsticks, but I'm getting used to it. Game has great story and graphics so far. Powers are neat too.

Boom Blox Bash Party - 9/10, keeps me and my son entertained for hours.

Dawn of War 2 - 8/10, Great single player campaign, but it's just too short. Love not having to concentrate on resource management, and graphics are amazing. Hate that this is Steam only.

Riddick AoDA - 8/10, This would be a solid 9/10 if there as a quicksave option like in the original game. Console port through and through. Fun game and cool story though. Worth playing. I hate ATARI's DRM with the 3 install limit though.

Street Fighter IV - 10/10, I could not imagine a more perfect 2D fighter. Online works well, lots of folks to play against, and graphics have a very original style to them. Cutscenes could be a lot less cheesy, but I don't play the cutscenes and they're skipable.

if you have PS3, Hot Shots Golf is the best golf game hands down. that game is SUPER fun. it actually has a much better physics engine than tiger as well.

Assuming, for the moment, you like the genres:

Too Human: 6.5/10. Repetitive and short, but the core gameplay is good. Very sequel-worthy.

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon: 9/10. It's pretty much the only choice for a traditional rogue-like for consoles until Shiren 3 comes out, but damned if it wasn't fun and well-paced. Had a very nice difficulty curve, too.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn: 8/10. It's Fire Emblem! It's hard! It's fun! Docked it a point for not innovating over its predecessor.

Grandia II: 8/10. Haven't gotten very deep into it, but I like what I've seen so far. Very interesting combat system.

Morrowind (Xbox): 8/10. I'm a little late to the party, but the crappy framerates and lame load times don't really bother me THAT much.

What system are you playing this on? The story was great, but the framerate and texture tearing in cities was obnoxious in the Playstation 2 version.

I'll rate one more in this genre.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years 9/10 - A good and somewhat difficult (this is a good thing IMO, as most RPGs can just be blown right through anymore) old-school RPG. Paces very well and the story is good so far. Lots of memories coming back from playing Final Fantasy IV (SNES II). Also, you have to use a lot of strategy to survive many of the boss battles, and the lunar cycle system is interesting and forces you to change tactics (or use some tents to get the lunar cycle you want) in the middle of a dungeon. The Band system is hard to get used to, but it reminds me of the fun multi-character attacks from Chrono Trigger.

Mass Effect 7/10 - It took me while to get into it, but once I did I played it regularly for about 2 weeks and had a blast. I'm starting to peter out a little now (I'm about lvl 25) but I'm sure I'll finish it.

The Benezia fight was unfairly hard and poorly designed and the romance stuff feels awkward.

TDU 7/10 - It's not perfect for sure but it's my kind of driving game. There's no plot and the character models look horrible but the driving is fun. I don't have time anymore to play a driving game on a regular basis. TDU is one that I can come back to every once in a while for a mission or two and be satisfied.

Tiger Woods 10 (Wii) 6/10 - this score might go up a point eventually but so far I'm pretty underwhelmed by the new motion control + swing. The disc golf doesn't captivate me much either.

And where are the fantasy courses? I don't need 27 real life venues.

I actually think I'll keep playing 2007 more than this one.

Though I dunno why the release for Wii only... I thought this would've been better as a DS release :)

Because I'm a Frugally-minded/cheap person, I will be rating all of my games based on the price-to-satisfaction ratio

Army of Two: I expected crap, wanted to try it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised how fun it actually was. It was definitely repetitive, the multi-player licks balls, but I paid $14.99 for it and I give it an 7/10 for that. If the game was $20-$25 it'd probably drop as low as a 5. I would have been sorely disappointed if I bought it for $60 when it first came out. I think I would have been just as happy if I rented this game for a week.

Mass Effect: With all the hype I had to see what it was about. Another title that I scored at $14.99. Worth every penny, but I felt a lot of the gameplay (specifically every side quest) was quite arbitrary. It's as if the developers knew that the game would be ridiculously short without these side quests and achievements that take a minimum of 3 play-throughs to earn. Playing through only the main quest takes all of 10 hours, while adding in the parts where you drive up 80 degree inclines to buildings that look strangely familiar to do a task you don't care about was a waste of the programmer's and the player's time. A lot of missed opportunities here but for $14.99 I gotta give this one a 8/10. It's great. I can't wait for Mass Effect 2... to go on some great sale so I can get it cheap. ;)

Bioshock: Oh Bioshock. You cost me only $17.99 and after our romp together I would have paid so much more for you just to play you earlier. Considering how much I loved the game, I think giving Bioshock 10/10 for $17.99 is fair.

1000gs = 1000 point game score earned for unlocking achievements in 360 games.

Conan is a fun game, a hack&slash similar to God of War. The platforming and puzzle solving is much easier than GoW though. the wiki is a good read that covers everything well

I played the hell out of it on PS3 for a couple weeks. It didn't have trophies or achievements, so I made the challenge getting in the top 5 on the leader board.

From the Wiki
n addition, they found the final encounter with Graven to be overly long and frustrating. Calling the fight "as painful as a trip to the proctologist", IGN and Game Informer judged it to be one of the worst boss fights in video game history.
It really is the first time you fight him, by the time I made it there on King mode, I beat him and his tar dudes like a rented mule.

Ok, I guess I'm going to have to stop by Gamestop on the way home now. Screenshots remind me of GoW. Seeing as how I've beaten GoW 1 and 2, and have 3 on pre-order; this game is probably right up my alley.
