I'm looking at transferring to Virginia Tech from the local community college (for fully story, go here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...hreadid=1857832&enterthread=y&arctab=y , financial situation at home finally forced my hand).

So anyways, pretty much landed on my feet, over the last summer/fall I pretty much crammed in a year's worth of credit. I want to transfer into the fall semester though (I really, really, really miss college life), and theres just a couple courses left. Looking at Virginia Tech's course recommendations (http://www.registrar.vt.edu/tranguide/2006/bymajor/cpe.html), the only recommended courses left that I havn't taken are the Physics I & II, and the bulk of the math (everything after Calculus II).

So, I was thinking about taking Physics I next semester and Physics II over the summer, while taking some math courses side by side (mixing and matching the rest of the math courses over the span of next semester & summer), which brings us to the question in the title-

Linear Algebra
Differential Equations
Multivariable Calculus
Discrete Mathematics

Experiences with either? Anything you see that could be taken side by side? ie. I was thinking maybe taking Linear Algebra & Differential Equations/Multivariable next semester, then taking either Diff. Eq./Multivar (whichever one I didn't take over spring semester) during the summer next to Physics II, and maybe saving Discrete for when I'm at Tech.

/shrug. Basically just asking what you guys think of the above 4 math courses.

I've taken all of them. Here's how I rate them.

Difficulty:
1) Differential Equations
2) MVC
3) Linear Algebra
4) Discrete

Interest:
1) Discrete
2) MVC
3) Linear
4) Diff Eq.

Importance in regards to Physics:
1) MVC (E/M specifically Maxwell's equations)
2) Diff. eq. (Mechanics)
3) Linear Algebra (Circuits, KVL and KCL)
4) Discrete (no relevance comes to my mind at this point)

I should add the order I took them in:

1) MVC
2) Linear Algebra
3) Diff. eq.

I've never taken a Discrete Math course, but I've picked it up throughout the years.

I hated Diff Eq., all theory.
Linear Algebra is pretty easy, Calc should be OK as well. Discrete is probably the easiest of them all.

I did...
Discrete in High School.
Linear Algebra and MVC in the same term (1st term, 1st year)
and Diff Eq in 2nd term of 2nd year.
