nV2a,

Looks pretty damn good to me. I would stay away from the IBM drives though. At first it was just the 75GXP's that were failing, but I've heard horror stories from the 60GXP's as well. I think you'd be better off with somebody like Maxtor. You might want to consider the Turtle beach sound card as well. I've heard a lot of praise for that card and its features. What OS will you be running?

the IBM hard drive is really a hit or miss,,, some people have great experiences with the 60GXP, others have bad (most are good for the 6-GXP i believe)... I personally like Maxtor but I dont have the money for it. I just bought a seagate baracuda IV 80gb though... Anywyas, I would stick with that hard drive (I am getting a 60GXP coming in a feww weeks), and your system looks great.

For now, just plain old Microsoft Windows98. From my testing, regular 98 is better for gaming than SE. I hate ME, I've not had the chance to test 2000, and I prolly wont get XP.

So IBM drives suck? :Q

Damn...

i never had any problems with any of my ibm drives [75gxp and 60gxp]. your netgear card might have some problems because i heard for some reason it's incompatible the epox board...i dunno...NICs are cheap anyway [if your netgear fails to work on the epox]. also in place of the sblive...go with the turtle beach santa cruz. i traded away my sblive 5.1 platinum [and sold the live drive for 50 bucks] for it. but then again...you can get the sblive5.1 [oem] at newegg for about 32 bucks. if you're ona budget, go w/ the sblive since it's 30-40 bucks cheaper. also...don't buy a toshiba dvd drive...at least i know the 16x performs worse than the 12 [but i dunno how much]. i would suggest you to go with the 16x liteon ltd-163 [16x]. it's the fastest. unless go with the pioneer 116 [16x]. and the rest is very nice. good luck building it.

I'd go with an Intel Pro/100+ NIC, a Pioneer Slot DVD, and not an SB Live.

<< Volcano 6CU+ Cooler (chip will be overclocked...how much, I dont know yet) >>

I'd get a Thermalright SK-6

<< -Epox EP-8K7A ATX Amd DDR Mobo with 6 pci/1agp/2 ddram sockets >>

Not the highest performing thing out anymore, but the best for overclocking that is currently available.

<< -Soundblaster Live! MP3 5.1 Retail Box PCI Emu10k1 soundcard >>

Okay, I guess, but I would get the Hercules Game Theater XP myself

<< -Toshiba 16X/48X DVD Rom Drive >>

I would get the Lite-On which doesn't have DVD RIP limitations of the Toshiba and can read more disks in Clone CD than the Pioneer

<< -Netgear FA310TX 10/100TX Network Interface Card (Nic) >>

Get any other brand of NIC.
Everything else looks okay.
