in college i had a barton2600+, 1.2GB RAM, 80GB HD, radeon9500 PRO and SB Audigy...

i moved back home and left the computer for my ex-gf... i regretted that until my dads company decided to change their 1-month old athlon64 server... and switch to an intel-based solution... so i got really lucky and its mine now! muahahhaha :D :)

its a crappy socket754 but i didn't have to pay for it and it should kill the barton anyway... here goes:

Athlon64 2800+ (1.8ghz)
Asus K8VX (s754) (onboard SATA raid, lan, 6.1 channel sound)
1.5 GB PC2700 RAM
160GB ATA133 HD
Same ol' Radeon9500 PRO
LG 52X CDRW

not bad eh? I installed WXP last night but didn't have the mobo cd on me (left it at the office) so I can't wait to get home today and play with it! :)

I still regret leaving my Audigy behind and my Logitech Z540 speakers but I can always bring them back later on... I also regret leaving my DVD-RW drive back there...

nothing is crappy about socket 754. You should feel ashamed for making such a statement.

yeah, the only bad part of 754 is no dual channel. any computer is good for free, unless that is its actual value, like all my old comps. :D

LOL

well i mean crappy in the sense that there's no dual channel and also that its pretty much discontinued... if i had a 939 i could upgrade in the future but its all good its not like i paid for it! :D

oh and SATA raid is nice, even though I don't have any SATA HDs to try it out yet...

dual channel doesnt effect the a64 processor much because it has a built in memory controller singel and dual channel make lil diff on a a64 platform.

its a nice pc video card is lacking though i would get ur old computer back considering it is yours.
