It's been a while since I built my last computer but I am now looking to build (quickly) a decent computer mainly for editing high quality mpeg videos that will be on Youtube in a professsional context.

How does the below build look? I guess the main things that I would like comments on are the processor, mobo, and video card and monitor. Any other advice is welcome also.

thanks

Might want to sneak some nice headphones into that list if you care at all about those around you ;) (Just personal video editing experience talking here)

System overall looks good, If you do any serious video editing at all, do yourself a favor and get the full blown Premiere Pro CS3 -or- CS4 app though. I have yet to find a "elements" style app that didn't completely suck a$$.

Unless you are also using the computer for gaming you're spending too much on the video card by at least $125. Zalman heatsinks are also pretty badly overpriced these days. There are less expensive offerings from Arctic Cooling, Xigmatek, Scythe, OCZ and ZeroTherm that perform as well or better.

Does Adobe Elements lineup offer GPU accell ? You will need Adobe CS4 to take advantage of the 260.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking about adding headphones also. I have only used Adobe Elements 4 and will look into CS4.

What vid card to you recommend for video editing? I don't want it to be a bottleneck and there will be no gaming on this computer.

Regarding Vista, I just worry about possible problems. I know XP works. This will be a company computer. Everybody else is on windows 2000. We are bypassing the corporate BS (stop gap measure) and getting the computer without authorization from India :) Supposedly, the company will be updating everthing to XP in Feb '09. XP instead of Vista? you ask? God knows. More corporate BS. I wonder if they know that MS stopped selling XP yet? :)
