I was gonna say I would go with the Antec 300 over the CM Centurion 5, but it's $10 more, or $20 more for the Illusion.

I'm not sure what you're looking for in the mobo, but you could probably get something cheaper based on the 770 or 785G chipsets.

If you're considering the PhII X4 965BE, which is $184 on newegg, I'd rather just go for a Core i5 750 + some P55 mobo instead.

everything basically - movies, music, games, CAD, math computing, etc.

i'd like to keep the budget at ~$650 max.

Which games and at what resolution? Because the first thing that pops to me when you say games is the video card. The 3870 is getting pretty dated at this point. I would suggest dropping the SSD, go with a Samsung F3 1TB drive (faster & cheaper than the WD Black) and get a Radeon 5770 which should still have the build fit in your budget.

1920x1080 resolution. max details, AA/AF are not necessary.

I agree, if this is for gaming, then drop the SSD, and go for a faster, newer, GPU. Prioritize. GPU before SSD. I also second the suggestion to check out an 890GX mobo, perferably with USB3/SATA3, for a bit more future-proof-ness. I would also go with either an Athlon II X4 CPU, or possibly the Phenom II X3 720 BE for gaming, with an eye towards upgrading to Thuban (hex-core) soon.

Edit: Also let us know the brand of 500W PSU. If it's crap, then it needs to be replaced with something better, like an Antec or Corsair or something.

PPS. How the heck do you create a public wishlist on Newegg? I've never been able to figure out how to do it.

Edit: Nevermind, there is now a button on the saved wishlist page, "Make Public". Last time I used wishlists, there was no button there.
