Here is the build that I am about to buy. I have a DS3 board and a E6400 already. What do you guys think. This is going to be a gaming system for the most part. Where could I improve my setup. I am iffy about my video card, I am wonderng what would be a better choice. Also the ram, I believe the DS3 board isn't give to much problems with corsair ram. Lastly I went with two hard drives. I plan on running a raid setup, still learning about it. anywas any imput would greatly appreciated.

By the way, if I don't plan on Overclockng it is there another CPU / Motherboard comb recommended. The more I plan on it the less I am thinking about Overclocking my C2D.

After reading a post on a Raid setup. I am thinking just running one hard drive and keeping it defragged. apparently the performance gains are minimal for gaming.

looks pretty good. i'd hold off on the x-fi for now though - i had one from my old system, and when i upgraded to my conroe system i noticed that the azalia audio on the DS3 was pretty damn good and so i sold my x-fi. the only thing that i think the integrated sound needs is dolby digital live support, but the x-fi doesn't have it either (which i think is rediculous for a $120 card). unless you find the ALC 883 to be really bad, why spend an extra $120?

also, can you run a 7950GX2 on a P965 chipset? I was under the impression that you needed an SLI-ready mobo, even if it is physically a single slot card. you may want to search the forums for compatibility info before spending $500 on a card you can't use.

Ok so I am dropping the a hard drive, the sound card, and I'll look into the Video card. If I can't run th 7950, whats another extremely powerful card that I can run.

There is no reason to pay for expensive memory if you do not plan on overclocking.

I agree, there is no reason to go RAID for the performance gain, but isn't 300 Gb drives more value for money now?

I agree with gobucks, don't get the X-Fi, onboard sound is fine for most people.

Corsair is a top brand along with OCZ and Kingston. Those are the only brands I would go with. I usually go with the value select since I dont like overclocking ram at all. If you dont overclock $200 worth of ram, ur really just paying $100 for the ram and $100 for the fancy heatsinks.
