1. What YOUR PC will be used for.
all the usual stuff, light graphics intense games like street fighter, heroes of newerth, and maybe sc2 (mostly going to be used for poker and dl'd movies and tv series)

2. What YOUR budget is. 500-600 USD

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from. USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. Nah

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
I have some IDE drives... but will probably upgrade anyway

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Yup and these parts are mostly compiled from other threads

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Def. some OCing

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
I have a crappy 17'' hyundai, w/e

9. WHEN do you plan to build it? NOW! NOW! NOW! :D

10. Don't ask for a build configuration critique or rating if you are thin skinned
I don't even have any skin, will this be a problem?
Here's what I was planning on ordering depending on whether or not I can find a better deal at Fry's in the next week or so...

AMD AthlonII x4 635 + Asus M4A88TD mATX mobo combo - $188.98 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.470596

OCZ Modstream Pro 500W + 500Gb Seagate barricuda combo - $69.98 after MIB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.466038

Antec 300 black mid ATX case + Lite-On dvd drive thing combo - $83.94
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.458437

Sapphire HD 5770 - $134.99 after MIB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102873

G.Skill 2x2Gb DDR3 1600 - $91.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231193

For a total of $569.88 before shipping

My questions are:

Will this gpu fit in the case?

Should I go with a lower end gpu?

Any other suggestions will be very awesome as well as I'm unsure about this PSU and Case.

Oh yeah and my current computer is a athlon64 3200+ (venice core!! these used to be hot), geforce 6600gt, with 1gb of corsair value ram ^_^ so I probably won't be reusing anything. (even the giant ugly blue case)

I heard from some people that micro ATX is no good (something about heat?). Anyone confirm this?

Saw a review that said Antec 300 holds full size video cards.

Looks good, wish I lived in the states :), nice prices.

Everything except that PSU + HDD combo looks good. A MicroATX board will work fine in an full ATX case. A 5770 is not a very long card, so you will have no problems with it fitting.

Regarding the PSU + HDD, I'm not the biggest fan of OCZ PSUs or Seagate SSDs. I think that a Samsung F3 1TB plus a Corsair 400CX is a much better deal for only $20 more.

Looks good except that PSU + HD... between the two it's a RMA waiting to happen. Seagate isn't any good anymore and OCZ PSUs aren't as efficient as some. 500W is kind of pushing it with this build as it is. Get an 80+ certified if you are getting a 500W. It's a good Idea to get 80+ all the time anyway, because otherwise you are just wasting power...

No OS?
Here's a combo with a case. The case is a bit rice, but it's 24.99 after rebate with free shipping, whereas yours is $69 with $15 shipping.

And what mfenn said. That's a better PSU and better drive.

500W is kind of pushing it with this build as it is.

Anandtech benches show a 5770 with a i7 920 pulling 262 watts in Furmark. The X4 635 uses 20 watts less than the 920 under load.

Both the Corsair and the OCZ would be more than sufficient for this build in terms of power consumption.

5770 is probably overkill given your monitor, but it will also handle any monitor upgrades very nicely.

If you're going to OC then you'll want a third party HSF for the CPU. A scythe mugen 2 or cooler master hyper 212+ are good performance/price pieces, but shop around since newegg is pretty terrible when it comes to cooling product prices :p

I have a thermalright xp90 from my first build, would that fit and would it be sufficient?

Also, would it be worth it to buy this phenomII x3 BE and try to get lucky for the same price? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103652

It doesn't seem like its worth the 60$ to step up to the x4 955 BE, thoughts?

Thanks for the help so far guys, you were just as helpful a while back when I was doing my first build. :awe:

Anyone know anything about this A-Data memory? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820211409

I don't think that Thermalright ever made an AM2/AM3 mounting bracket for the XP-90, but I could be wrong.

The A-DATA memory is fine, if a little high voltage.
