Well, I took these pictures of a ping pong table and paddles and such a little while back, and finally got around to get them digitized from film to my computer, so if the quality seems slightly off blame the digitizing process, not my camera, I shoot with a Nikon N75 SLR for those who are wondering.

Any comments would be appreciated, this wasnt for a class, I just do this kinda stuff on my own time...As far as shutter speeds and F-stops, obviously the shutter speeds where fast with the bright sunlight, I used ISO 400, and the f-stops varied in the pictures as you can obviously tell. Comments are welcome 🙂

If you're doing still life, you're probably better off controlling aperture and allowing the camera to change shutter speed so that at least you can maintain proper DOF.

They are pretty blurry. How were they digitized?

They are bigger than screen size probably, try zooming in if possible, most of them are like 1500x1000 or something like that...

if you are purposely limiting depth of field, it was appropriate in some cases. Good close focusing. Experiment with using black and white if you're gonna use such topics (kind'a boring in color, but b&w would increase impact). 3rd picture is best use of contrasting visual.

Out of curiosity, what message or idea were you trying to impart from the pics???

Honestly I've never truly thought of what I was trying to impart, I mean obviously it looked cool at the time, and yes I know it would be more effective in B&W, however I think on a personal level it was like WOW the ping pong table is empty which in my dorm was totally rare, people played 24/7 so to see it like that and with the sense imparted a sense of quiet and beauty to me as strange as that might sound to others.

if the effect you're trying to impart is "un-used", then enhance with scattering of dust. That would enhance effect of what the contrasting reality is. Adding an additional prop would increase effect....find old outdated pop bottle and set beside paddles, giving idea that it has been long time since table was used.
