After totally (yes, totally) finishing Crack in Time I went back and redid tools of destruction. If you haven't played either of these then just go buy tools of destruction from 2007, should be able to find it for cheap.

Tools of destruction lives up to it's name in that it's really all about destruction. There are more waves of enemies and the whole time you're just annihilating enemies. The weapons are more diverse than CIT and there are more of them. What really jumped when I went back to play it was how much more difficult it is. CIT I would rarely die but with this it was common. That's a testiment of just how many more enemies there are and they are tougher.

On the fit and finish aspect CIT is much better graphics, sound and music wise. It really should get a 10.5 in this category as IMHO it's probably the best of any game available. That's not saying TOD isn't top notch, it's just that CIT is that much better. That navigation and being able to just fly around and land on moons/planets really made you feel like you were piloting around looking for goodies to find and baddies to kill. The clank time puzzles really added a challenging aspect to the game.

So, Tools of destruction is harder, more weapons, more blow stuff up. Crack in Time is much more "polished" but a little easier with not as many weapons. If I could have tools of destruction with the sound and navigation of CIT it would be my most perfect game.

I agree CIT was much easier, and it felt shorter, maybe because of that. The weapons in CIT leveled up much faster as well, which could be why it felt easier again.

I did like the clank puzzles in CIT a lot, especially the later ones for the golden bolts, one of em took me well over a half hour to solve, but it was fun and rewarding once i figured it out.

Overall though I'm not sure which I would say I liked more. I liked the "free roaming" feeling of CIT a lot, and it had a lot of 'minigame' type levels which I thought were a lot of fun and uniquely created. The flying in CIT wasnt a waste of time as it was in TOD.

What it comes down to is they are both great games and anyone who has a PS3 and hasn't played them is insane.

I need to finish up (PS2) R&C Going Commando so I can move on to these :)

If you have a PS2 or PS3 with BC, Commando holds up very well and is a lot of fun. (I just got distracted by other shiny objects like Mass Effect and Fallout 3 before finishing.)

I couldn't name a favorite either. But by going back to TOD after having so much time with CIT I could really tell the differences in overall play.

Agree that TOD seemed longer. Overall both games have a good amount of game play and both have a ton of replay value via challenge mode and going after the RYNO.

The weapons are for sure better in TOD. Who couldn't love the predator missles? When I went to the insomniac museum in CIT there was a bit about having a Phoenix weapon. They were similar to the predator missles but were fiery birds.
