Nice :) One more thug out of town :) And yes, I believe sheed is a free agent after this season. I bet the Hawks fans are happy about this. Nothing like a blatant salary dump to endear you to the fans

Woot! 'Sheed is gone! Now the Portland fans can start to warm up to the team again. I loved the guy's talent but his attitude was just so poor.

Even with the recent winning streak, it seems like no one here cares about the Blazers, which is really unusual because 5-10 years ago everyone was really fanatic. The whole "jailblazer" rep has really turned fans off. Getting rid of Bonzi and now this trade should do a lot to get fans involved again.

This is a good trade for us in a basketball sense, too. Shareef is obviously talented and Ratliff gives us defense and an inside presence. Even Dickau is a Gonzaga guy so the fans here will like him. Kudos to the new Blazers management for actually attempting to live up to their promise of a team the community can be proud of.

Sheed is supertalented, but that is a great trade for Portland. Rid of Sheed and his attitude, they bring in a great player in Abdur Rahim, and a good shot blocker and rebounder in Ratliff. Meanwhile, Sheed will be in Atlanta where he can perform his "bad actor" role in front of the 1000 people (if that) that are at the Hawks games. :D

Wallace is gone? GOOD. Just another misfit that the damn coach doesn't know how to babysit or parent. Those stupid Blazers needed to have their father beat the sh|t outta them when they were younger. They're all a bunch of rough-necks who must LIKE getting in trouble with the law and all-around f'ing things up. :| They need a coach who'll do more to them than make'em run a few laps.

*ahem*

...right. Good trade.

theyve been trying to get rid of him for a while....he also has said that there is a very small chance he will resign with any team he is traded to because he really wants to try the free agent market. so the hawks only have to put up with rasheed for a few months when they realize they dont want him either.

The question is will then contend this year. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games played, and their roster just got a hell of a lot better. Shareef is a terrific offensive player, and Ratliff will be another guy they can use to guard Shaq and Duncan.

Blazers are probably too far back to contend for a playoff spot this year, because I'd guess that it will take a little while to gel.

Oh and of course, Theo probably won't stay healthy :)

But as a blazer fan, I love it. Great trade.

Naw, the Blazers can easily make the playoffs. They're 24-25 and the number 8 spot is 29-23. Also, the season is only half over, a strong finish to the season and they're in.

Almost 60%, not 50%.

If the Grizz maintain their current pace, they'll finish 46-36. That means the Blazers would have to finish 23-10 to finish 1 game ahead. That is very unlikely.

It is possible, of course, but it would likely take a Grizz (or Nuggets) collapse, since I don't think the Blazers can be that good.

Blazers seem to always suck after the break. So if they don't make the playoffs, then what's the streak end at... 15 straight playoffs? 17?

the trade benefits both teams. atlanta now gets rid of a reported $50 million after this year. terrell brandon comes off the books as well. portland gets relief after next season. i believe ratliff and shareef comes off the books after next year.

this trade hurt me fantasy wise though. no way shareef will still average 20 and 10 in portland with zach randolph, derek anderson, and damon stoudamire. :(

Atlanta will have a lot of cap space to sign some big-name free agents, but who wants to come to the Hawks?

The Nuggets had a hot start and are something like 10-20 since. They're slumping, but no one is really making a push to catch up to them, the Blazers can do it, along with Utah.
